Weekly Updates

October—Respect Life Month
October is annually observed as Respect Life Month in Catholic Churches across our nation. This provides a wonderful opportunity for our school community to teach our students about the dignity of the human person. We will continue to use Respect Life Month to focus on promoting respect for one’s self and our role as human persons to love others.

Sioux Falls Area Life Chain
The Sioux Falls Area Life Chain will be held on Sunday, October 2 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. It will span from S. Kiwanis Ave. to S. Sertoma Ave. along the north sidewalk of W. 41st Street. The annual National Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful public witness standing in solidarity for the defense of life from conception to natural death and takes place simultaneously across the U.S.A. and Canada.

First Friday Mass/Adoration for Parents
First Friday Mass will take place in our chapel at 7:30 AM next Friday morning. As a community of Christ, we invite you and your child to attend if you are able.

Additionally, we will have adoration in the OGJH Chapel next Friday for parents to come and pray for our students. If you are able to sign up for a 30-minute slot (or 2 if you would like), please sign up here. There is no limit as to how many parents can come at one time, so feel free to have multiple names signed up for the same time slot.

Faith Opportunities for Students
Students are encouraged to be active participants in growing in their spiritual lives. In addition to theology class, weekly adoration and Mass, here are some other ways they can be involved:

  • Confessions are offered Wednesdays during lunch study halls.
  • Campus Ministry is held on Fridays during lunch study halls.
  • First Friday Mass is held on the first Friday of every month at 7:30 AM in our chapel. This is open to all students/parents.

School Dance Chaperones Needed
Our school dance will be held on Friday, October 28 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. We are looking for a few more chaperones to help supervise during the dance. Volunteers would need to be there at 6:45 p.m. and would be done by 9:15 p.m. If you are interested in helping, please click here.
