O’Gorman Junior High School is proud to offer student organizations and clubs that support the academic and faith mission of our school. The following clubs are currently being offered:
Students involved in Robotics compete in an organization called FIRST LEGO League (FLL). FLL is a robotics program for middle school aged students, and is designed to get children excited about science and technology, and teach them valuable employment and life skills. Teams consist of up to ten students. Robotics typically begins in October and state competition concludes in January.
8th grade students who are involved in band and choir may also choose to be a member of the OGJH Worship Team, which performs at our weekly school Masses. The Worship Team practices on Wednesday mornings before school. Students interested in being a part of the OGJH Worship Team should visit with their music teacher.
Interested students must first apply and be recommended by their teachers to be a member of Student Council. Students are then selected for this group based on a survey of their peers. Student Council members assist new students and incoming 6th grade students with transition to OGJH, and are involved in service projects throughout the year. They meet throughout the year, usually before school.
In conjunction with the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)/TATU (Teens Against Tobacco Use) organization from O'Gorman High School, members promote healthy decision making and lifestyles throughout the duration of the school year. Interested 8th grade students apply in the spring of their 7th grade year in order to be considered for SADD/TATU.
